Leaving a gift in your will to the PBC Foundation will help us in many ways, now and in the future
Research
We are currently looking into the causes of PBC through the genetic screening programme; however we believe that in the future a cure for PBC will be found. The research journey is never a straightforward and easy road to follow; we are at the start of this path, however leaving a contribution to research will ensure that there will be hope for future generations to come.
Support
Our nationwide network of support groups help PBC sufferers, family and friends across the UK come together, share experiences and offer advice and guidance. These groups are co-ordinated and run by over 40 volunteer co-ordinators. The foundation is always on the look out for new volunteers, we would like to cover more parts of the UK and focus on areas that are less well-established. This on-going support is invaluable to our members.
Helpline
The helpline is run to offer members a chance to talk about their PBC, we are here to offer support and where possible guide and inform. We do our upmost to answer queries and offer support, providing a listening ear for each member.
Information
Information packs to new members are free of charge; they offer a wealth of information and guide each member through symptoms, treatments, current research and self-management techniques. GP, patient and general leaflets are distributed throughout the UK as an awareness tool.
Our quarterly newsletter ‘The Bear Facts’ is distributed to over 6,000 members, this popular and informative publication gives an up to date account of everything PBC.
“Once again, I enjoy the magazine, it makes me feel not so isolated knowing there are others like yourself”
“My doctor has been and is very supportive considering I am the only patient with PBC in a practice of eight GPs. He is very interested in what I take along to him, including The Bear Facts”
